For over 50 years in senior living, we remain family managed and 100% family owned. Country Meadows was founded by my parents, former Pennsylvania Governor (1955-59) and Mrs. George M. Leader.
My father always emphasized the importance of developing lasting relationships with our customers and providing them with value “heaped up and running over.” I feel the same way, inspiring our vision: to be the connection between care and purpose to make lives better.
We feel so strongly about putting our residents and co-workers first that we adopted the following Mission Statement: Our mission is to serve residents with meaning, offer our co-workers purpose and lead our company with innovation.
These six Foundation Principles help guide all our co-workers in operating Country Meadows:

At Country Meadows, your title is just the beginning of what you are to our residents. Here, you serve a position and a purpose. Every interaction could lead to a brighter smile, a taller stance or a better day. For both the residents and you.
We know every day isn’t perfect. And aging doesn’t come without hardships. But our goal as an organization simply is to help make life better for each of our residents in exactly the way they need.
And here, we look for co-workers with a skill in their profession or the desire to learn one, but also a genuine motivation for making a difference. So, at the end of the day, we ask ourselves, “Did we make life a little better for our customers today?” And when the answer is “yes,” our lives get a little better too. It’s just that simple.
It’s a family business and commitment. Country Meadows is owned and managed by the Leader family who instills the same values and character in the culture and campuses as they do with their own families. Meredith Mills, granddaughter of co-founders, the late Gov. Leader and Mary Jane Leader, and mother of two, leads the company as President and CEO with great listening skills, empathy and compassion for our residents and co-workers. We invite you to meet the family in this video or even better, stop them in the hallways when visiting one of our campuses. They would love to meet you.
Then there are our families within our family. Over 350 co-workers are related and work together at Country Meadows, Ecumenical Retirement Community or Lifesong Hospice and Palliative Care (all Leader family companies). It’s validating as a family company that these co-workers have chosen us not only for their own careers but have the confidence and trust in us that they recommended us to their own family members. Each of our co-workers—related or not—contributes to our culture and creates a family feel with their support of and respect for each other. We are grateful for that and them.
We are proud to offer competitive wages, a great benefits package and even incentivized career paths, on-the-job training and continuing education to our hard-working co-workers. In addition, we offer many other co-worker benefits such as:
*Available to full-time co-workers only (scheduled to work a minimum of 60 hours per two-week pay period)
**Available to co-workers who work a minimum of 30 hours per two-week pay period
Equal Opportunity Employer
