Prevost Memorial Hospital

Prevost Memorial Hospital (PMH) is owned and operated by the West Ascension Parish Hospital Service District, an entity authorized under the Louisiana Constitution and created by the Louisiana Legislature in 1963. The hospital, located in the City of Donaldsonville, opened in 1968. The Service District is governed by a five-member board of directors who are appointed by the Ascension Parish Council.

 

PMH is a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) – a designation given to certain rural hospitals by the U.S. government that is intended to help keep rural hospitals open and improve access to healthcare by retaining essential services in rural communities. PMH’s healthcare services include 24/7/365 emergency department care, a pathology laboratory, radiology/diagnostics, wound care services, respiratory services, skilled nursing facility beds, and general acute inpatient care.
